2008 edition

A new look for the "Mare e Monti" thanks to Bruno Depetris' new logo. Depetris, designer from Turin, won the national competition which recorded the participation of more than 300 designers from all over Italy. New sports events related to the "Mare e Monti" walk. These are 2008's "Mare e Monti" edition novelties.

In addition to the traditional free step walk, from now on the "Mare e Monti" logo stands out for a series of sports supported by the Sports Buereau of the local Municipality, with the cooperation of several sporting societies, to promote its beautiful coutryside.

Those who like competing in a natural landscape can participate in the "HALF ECO MARATHON", on friday 12th Sept., 6.30 pm, which officially opens the 24th edition of the famous walk. The eco-maratahons, a sort of race running in a natural landscape, are increasing and this one is the first to be held in Liguria.

Who interprets walking as a way to keep in shape and be healthy can choose for the "FITWALKING ROUTES" by Damilano brothers (10 e 20 km), scheduled on Sunday 14th Sept. The fitwalking, which is very trendy in the USA where high is the percentage of oversized people, is a sporting practice born from the fusion of race walking and trekking.

Those who likes the extreme running will be sastified with the GRAN TRAIL RENSEN which takes place on Saturday 25 th October in the beautiful landscape of the Beigua Natural Park. Although the event is at its the first edition, it has been aknowledged by the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc.

Testimonial of the 2008's Mare e Monti edition is Marco Olmo (see the photo). This championship of the extreme running won the 2007's edition of the toughest mountain race in the world, the North Face Ultra Trail Tour du Mont Blanc. In doing so Olmo has become the only person to have won this gruelling test twice.
