An extraordinary edition of the Mare e Monti March in Arenzano came to a close yesterday, despite the autumn-like weather. A total of 2,600 marchers filled the streets, trails, and seafront of our region with vibrant energy, smiles, and contagious enthusiasm.
It truly was an extraordinary event. Everything we experienced over these two days – the participation, the shared joy, the inclusivity, the beauty of the routes, and the unique atmosphere that filled our town – is something we should never take for granted.
Arenzano turned into an international celebration: flags from around the world waved throughout the town, but it was the people who brought the real color to the streets, creating moments of connection, hospitality, and shared joy that will stay in everyone’s memories.
We walked alongside participants from all over Europe, the United States, and even a group of 9 Japanese marchers! As every year, the Dutch and German delegations stood out among the largest and most enthusiastic.
On the hillside trails, in mountain huts, along the coastline, and through the town streets, families, couples, groups of friends, children, seniors, and people with disabilities marched together – all wearing hiking boots and the classic colorful cup around their necks: a symbol of Mare e Monti and of its inclusive, joyful spirit.
So many people deserve thanks – we’ll dedicate a separate post to express our gratitude to everyone who made this wonderful edition possible.
Save the date: we look forward to seeing you on September 12–13, 2026, for an even more special edition. We’ll celebrate 40 years of the Mare e Monti March together!
A special thank you goes to the volunteers, the true driving force of the event: you recognize them by their smiles, their patience, their enthusiasm, and their constant presence in every corner of the march.
